Full description: As a veterinarian for 30 years, I have seen the positive effects of pet calming music in my practice. I felt that music could help shelter animals in their frequently stressful living conditions. My desire to make a difference inspired me to create the Rescue Animal Mp3 Project in April 2011. Clinical studies have documented that specific music vibrations, sounds and tempos can create a calming effect on animals. Follow Up Evaluations conclude an average of 47% less barking and the animals are 56% more relaxed! Our best endorsements come from those directly linked to the shelters. The Director of the Brooklyn Animal Shelter in Ohio captures it best: “I am so happy – I adopted out a dog we had for a YEAR today, our beloved Rosie, the Rottweiler female whose separation anxiety was alleviated by the beautiful soothing music. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity.”

Rescue Animal Mp3 Project, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, has permission to use 30 CD’s (created specifically for animals) for this project which are loaded onto Mp3 Players and offered free-of-charge to shelters and rescues across the United States. Shelters must be non-profit or government-run and house a minimum of ten animals which are available for adoption. The Mp3 Players and accessories shipped to each shelter cost $55.00, with a speaker $95.00. Playing soothing pet music promotes relaxation by creating a calming environment. Animals are better able to cope with the stress of shelter environments, and in turn, this improves their quality of life. Dogs and cats that are calm and well-behaved are much more desirable to adopt, which increases their chance of acquiring forever homes. We also educate rescue and shelter workers about the benefits of other enrichments and calming music and how they will help the health and well-being of the animals in their facilities. Evaluation feedback from shelters has shown that the music also has a calming effect on humans who work at the shelters and who visit to adopt. This, too, creates a more harmonious atmosphere for the animals. Visit to see a video of the amazing calming effects of our music! Your financial backing will help enrich the lives of millions of homeless pets living in shelters!
